The First Alert Z-Wave Smoke & Carbon Monoxide Detector Alarm is a wireless, battery-powered device that helps protect your home and family from potential dangers. Designed for improved compatibility with the Ring Alarm Security System and other certified Z-Wave systems, this 2-in-1 detector provides mobile alerts in the event of an emergency.

The Z-Wave Plus Smart Start feature enables a faster and more intuitive connection of the device to the hub, using a QR code scan located on the device. This combination alarm includes a photoelectric smoke-sensing chamber, an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor, an 85-decibel horn, a tamper-resistant battery door, and a single test/silence button.

Fully tested and compliant with UL217, UL2034, CSFM, NFPA 720, NFPA 101, and other relevant standards, this alarm is specifically designed for residential and institutional applications, such as sleeping areas in hospitals, hotels, dorms, and multifamily dwellings, as defined in the NFPA 101 standard.

This device is certified to work with the Ring Alarm Base Station, allowing for improved compatibility, easier setup, and a seamless in-app experience. Additionally, it is compatible with smart home systems like Samsung SmartThings and Nexia Home Intelligence when connected to a Z-Wave Plus gateway hub (sold separately; not compatible with Wink or Onelink).

The photoelectric smoke sensor helps reduce false alarms caused by cooking or shower steam, while the 85-decibel horn, single test/silence button, and side access to a tamper-resistant battery door provide additional features. The Z-Wave Plus with Smart Start feature ensures a faster and more intuitive connection of the device to the hub, further enhancing the user experience.

To receive real-time notifications in the Ring App when smoke or carbon monoxide is detected, users should not insert the batteries into the First Alert alarm until prompted by the Ring app. This battery-powered smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarm, which includes 2 AA batteries, helps keep your family safe.

With a temperature range of 40°F (4°C) to 100°F (38°C) and a humidity range of 10% to 95% relative humidity (RH), this device is designed to perform reliably in a variety of residential and institutional environments.
